With the House of All Faith beginning to take over the town and surrounding villages, the right-wing Citizens Party gains in strength as hatred and fear of the Lewises creeps into the hearts of ordinary people living ordinary lives in the town of Pontybrenin whose main industry is now shops and cafes for the pilgrims and the hordes of paranormal tourists and the business brought in by wealthy House incomers. The sudden return of Tamsin Lewis, supposedly dead for two years, is like a pebble triggering a landslide of emotion and the fear of the 'freaks' is fuel to the fascists' fire. This near-future world is also beset by high levels of UV radiation and drug-resisitant plagues - such as th einevitable (in my view) necrotising pneumonia threatening Paris... POV experiment... the all-seeing 'I' is absent

Laura's few hours in the garden are a little strange. Continuation of chapter 6 that I didn't quite get to finish fully last week. I've now edited a chunk of this out and added a different ending to what I had originally submitted on Monday.

The family retire to Ayr Street to determine what had happened to Tamsin durin g the two missing years but she has a peculiar amnesia and disturbing scars. Jillsy Stoker was the partner of Thomas Lewis and both are deeply revered by the House of All Faith. Jillsy and Amy (Thomas's daughter) share a unique gift - they can proactively alter the biorhythms of those around them be it to happiness or taking them through to the point of unconsciousness or even death. Thomas Lewis actually expired at the end of Book Three but when dying in the Domain, a place where time has no meaning, he reached forth and saved his niece.... (Edited 14-06-10)

First chapter of a story I am working on. Its aim is to look at love and loss and old friendships. Have completed about 16 chapters as this stage and have hit a bit of a wall. Any advice is welcome. jw

The begining of my novel. I know I'm arse backwards putting this on now, but hoping for some critique as It has been edited a lot since I put it on the last time and wonder if it works better now or needs that extra 'something'. All comments, advanced or not, are greatly appreciated and very welcomed.

Myrfyr Davies is the local historian trying to piece together the history of the five pentagrams and the clues left by Bishop Geraldus as to the true history and nature of the valley and the Nexus at its heart. The Pendulum was an arcane device, essentially a prison for the 'Disciples of Ormuzd' (Ormuzd took the name Zhara when manifest) that Mair refers to. It used to appear every five years, swinging back and forth through planes, until it was destroyed at the event know as the Awakening five years previously (in Fulcrum - the first book in the series of nine books). Cariad translates as 'dear' and 'Yrch y Fi' is an expression of visceral disgust. (re-edited 14 June 2010)

Mike Sifford, the council leader, and Edmund Bridewell, a local undertaker, have been heavily involved with the Lewis family for years and shared their struggles. Two years previously, the bereaved Sifford came home to find his dead wife and daughter replaced by two 'Crossover Miracles' - an alternative reality wife and daughter who have struggled to fit into their new home. Being labelled as Friends of the Prophets by the increasingly powerful House has also proved to be a mixed blessing for both men (re-edited 14 june 2010)

I thought I better start writing after a long absence. The part of the brain which growled and went to sleep in one corner of my brain, just woke up and am trying to feed it. This is based on a joke from Soman, my cousin who used to make me sleep by telling me bed time stories when I was very young. That now puts him in the 'ancient' category. Sorry, bro! (He is a member here). This is a new one from him told to me when I visited him in Kerala, India, last year.

a snippet of French life ... The heavy coffin tilted as the burly men on one side jostled each other. The chap in the hole shouted a warning, but it was too late. One end of the coffin slipped and fell back in the hole with a loud cracking sound.

This is an interlude in a book called Goddess designed as a link to another series of parallel world stories called MUTE. Goddess is the fourth book in a series of nine called the Nexus which is an area in an alternative near-future Wales with five pentagrams of ancient stones in the post-idustrial landscale that form the Nexus, a point about which the various parallel worlds of this particular Creation rotate. Amy Lewis is one of a gifted family who can move between worlds and spaces but here, she has yet to master her power and ends up in the arid world of the Mutes which is a climatic disaster-zone. It's a link but also a taster for MUTE which i hope to finish in 2012....
