Fiction: Rich Dust - chapter 1 - by Fictionhead (3597 words) - Date online (02-05-2011)
Drama

I began writing RICH DUST 5 years ago - well 6 now. It had 3 viewpoints including "Mrs. Willoughby's" and I wasn't happy with the way the novel was going. Someone suggested I stick to one viewpoint and perferably, first person. "Mrs. Willoughby" demanded to be that "first person". From the moment she appeared in the novel she seemed to demand full attention. I re-wrote and re-wrote, put the novel away, re-wrote, then took out something I'd started many years before (which turned into a piece which included "Everybody's Darling", a story I've pitched up in CRIME. I've since discovered how to get italics, which helps. However, using line breaks to illustrate paragraphs does not give work a good look.) But "Mrs. Willoughby" kept nudging at me and so, last year, I took her out of the drawer. She seemed to have a story to tell that was nothing like the one I'd imagined for her. RICH DUST is her story.

 Fiction: Everybody's Darling - by Fictionhead (2196 words) - Date online (28-03-2011)
Crime/Thriller

"This is from a series of short stories. Originially, I intended them to be linked by a common theme. As I continued on them, they scattered, some taking on lives of their own, and wanting their own space. In the end, I let a couple of them go to see where they headed. They seemed to be merging into the same novel which, all being well, might just one day, take flight. All the stories are based on my experiences whilst living in L.A. in the late 70s in and around the punk scene where I tried, but failed, to make it as architypal English punk showing the yanks how to do it. I failed. They didn't need to be shown. They did it their way. In any event, I've tried to convey the scene as it was and its time. As such, it contains strong language and opinions and scenes of a '70s nature."
