I've been reading Howard Barker's 'The Possibilities' recently, so I'm blaming this sketch on that. It's a study of sexual politics.

This is for delph's five-fruit prose workshop challenge. It is an old story of mine from years ago, which David mentioned the other day as a favourite of his. Many of you will not have seen it before, so ... I'm afraid the fruit has been woven into the cakes :-)

My effort for delph_ambi's prose challenge - which stipulated that you had to mention five portions of fruit. Comedy sketch. Light this time. And newly reduced.

It's the day coppers dream of - when that elusive criminal who's so often given them the slip is finally within their grasp...

Prose challenge and, daft as it is, very probably a conversation I have had on a night shift...

Melissa Perl is an eighteen year old orphan, living in Mulberry village with foster parents Emma and Gary, following the horrific death of her mother during the birth of her now deceased sister Tracy through cancer, as well as her fathers suicide shortly after. Blinded by her belief that the only way for her to ever reunite with her parents is to acquire talent needed to deem herself worthy of joining them in ‘the village of the stars’, Melissa becomes desperate to seek greatness and emulate the talents that her parents once held. Doing so proves immensely difficult, and is the cause of much of Melissa's melancholy. This novel is still very much a work in progress. That printed below is the opening few chapters of the novel. It was started two years ago and as of yet remains unfinished. Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

Right. Let's have some fiction back, and not some namby pamby flash stuff! This is my own version of a story Rupe posted just after he joined. It's lain around critted to pieces and unfinished for all that time, now is completely rewritten and hopefully enjoyable. C'mon guys, I need support ... pse read and comment.

"Kaela" is a tale of death, betrayal, the struggle for hope, and things that are not considered as being possible. A young woman is struggling to regain her sanity after an attack from two years ago. Alcohol has acted as her friend for a while now and her real friend Louise is trying to cope with her brothers, who are arguing more than usual about a deadly secret.

Here's part two of the epic tale of Barry Porter and his horticultural adventures. We meet a new character who seems somehow familiar.

Millena Ryder returns to Bulgaria for the first time since graduation. After her father's death in suspicious circumstances during a posting to Paris, she has lived with her English mother in Cheltenham. But then her half-sister organises a reunion in a spa resort for their university friends. The holiday turns into a nightmare when the elder sister is found floating in the mineral baths with a knife in her chest. What follows is the beginning of the second chapter of the novel.

Based on a couple of characters in my family's murky past...

This is an excerpt from a novel that has just been reviewed by a script doctor. I was very impressed by her work, but would like to have a wider reaction to this particular episode, which she didn't like. In general (and I'm sure she is right), she feels that the heroine, Suzanne, should be less "girlie". The novel has two story lines: the first, the planning by certain individuals, including the head of the Secret Services and a senior minister, called Boris Boyanov, to seize power in Bulgaria and then invade Macedonia, to make that country a part of Bulgaria again (It was, at various times) - a plan that is thwarted by Suzanne and her friends; the second story line concerns the heroine finally coming to terms with the ambush of her Royal Artillery troup in Afghanistan, which she is almost the only soldier to survive. She was awarded the Military Cross for her bravery, but had to take extended leave after reciving severe injuries. The present piece comes towards the end of the novel, when Suzanne and her new boyfriend, Nikolai, a member of the Secret Services who in the past has been corrupt, go to see who Gotze, a member of the Internal Macedonian Revolutionary Organisation, which for a long time has striven to get Macedonia back, is meeting in the cafe Isadora.

It seemed to Charlie his whole life had been spent without anyone knowing he was there.

The Secret Trust is a mystery in the best British tradition without a messy murder for a famous detective to solve. It's an intriguing tale of an American lawyer's challenge to weave his way through a net of legal intricacies only the Brits could devise. I wrote this for my creative writng class. We couldn't use any names or 'he said' or 'she said' etc. This was my effort and end result.

I know I have put this on before in the past (over a year ago) but this is now at least the 16th draft I've written. Would really appreciate any feedback given. I have changed the begining at least 4 times. I hope this will be the last time, lol. I have made minor alterations with suggestions from Sirat.
