Talking animals. There's no excuse for them.

The challenge: to write a story that has an animal as its central character, ie integral to the plot.

My effort for e-griff's prose challenge, the idea of which was to have a central character that was an animal. *shrug* well, I've tried! :-)

Animals have their own myths - though they sound rather familiar.

A saga in 3 parts. - 1939, Newcastle, UK: When 17-year-old Tommy Baldwin finds himself with a wife pregnant with another man’s child, he has to get away. The onset of war gives him the chance. Later, shipwrecked and injured, things get worse after he swaps identities with his dead friend to hide his past.

The ending of a relationship between a witch a her victim. Chapter one.

This completed novel is set in the shady world of the British Government's witness protection programme. When someone starts killing witnesses, Ex-Special Forces soldier, Mike Stanton, is asked to find the perpetrator and kill him. His loyalty and conscience collide when he discovers that the killer is his friend and colleague.

Pete Morello really was the number-two guy in the Morello crime family. He had been number-one until three assassins tried to kill him, shooting from ten feet away. He hopped around and dodged every shot. He then got the reputation as the man who can dodge bullets, but he lost the desire to be in the spotlight and turned his leadership over to Joe "The Boss".

What you've got to be careful of is that there might well be an unseen goat standing behind you at any given time, subjecting your alluring profile to the full force of its foul, lecherous gaze. This has very little to do with the piece presented here, but I was hoping it might get your attention.

Children/Adult fairy Story - partially complete, will end up at about 50/60K. Whole story is based on traditional British fairy folklore. The Story is set about 450 AD. A boy and a girl aged 13 go in search of a girl stolen at birth and held by Goblins to pay a tithe to the devil.They have been frustrated in their intentions for 13 years and now the children have just under 12 months to find the girl. On of the searchers ( the girl) is half Elf and half Human. As they pass through the ancient Celtic lands Cornwall, Wales, Ireland and eventually Scotland, they encounter several fairies some benign and others dangerously evil. Attched is a rough draft of the first few chapters- I have three times as much writen but not typed. I am looking for comment, crtique and even a co-author

For PJ's Prose Workshop Challenge Quis custodies custodiet? I find I've written a story that more than half the commenters don't understand. That's so weird! How can that be? The challenge was to write a response to the following prompt: "A woman on the verge of insanity. A stranger shot in the back. And before he dies, he entrusts into her care a parcel of "extreme importance". He asks her to do something with it (what he asks, that's up to you). And to make matters worse, the woman has lost her prescription pills to temper her violent mood swings... What does she do?"

Here's my story for this month's prose challenge. Can't say as I'm enamoured of the story, but I did my best :) I've given this story a name now, thanks to Kazzmoss: Heartless. PJ.

No one knows when it will happen and it sneaks up on us when we least expect it.....it did for Joe and Kate.
