A short poem of love gone bad.

A young estate agent is showing a couple around an idyllic country cottage. He's desperate to make his first sale. But he knows something about the property he's selling - something that might put them off. Should he tell them? Unknown to him, the couple have problems of their own. This is a rewritten version of an earlier post. I wasn't happy with it then & I'm still not sure about it. Any comments or suggestions welcome.

First chapter of my novel, 'Throwing it all Away'. I entered it in the Best Beginnings competition - the main criticism was that it was overwritten. So I've pruned it ruthlessly. The novel is crime-based lad lit: Pete, a young lawyer, loses his girlfriend, home and job, discovers his ex-employer is involved in a complex property scam, solves the case & gets a new girlfriend. All crit gratefully received. Am now away/offline for a few days but will reply on return to anyone who comments.

This is actually a RE-SUB of a short story but, at just over 4000 words, I thought it would be too lengthy to post all at once. I have changed something, and wanted to see if it fares better now, as a result. Although I have put it in the 'Horror' category, it is not really graphic, although elements of it are, I think, of a horror nature. Can't explain, see what you think. If you feel so inclined, please let me know your thoughts on this one. It is a little something I toyed with, partially in response to a call for submissions by a certain publisher (although it was not accepted!) Thanks all, Romany. Feedback and crit welcome as usual. My Overall word count at this stage is 18,950 approx. My expected word count by the end of Februrary is 25,000 which is half of my overall total. At the moment I'm a little behind and am expecting to hit around 22,000 maybe 23,000 at best. I'm hoping to catch up soon enough though. Enjoy!

This is the most unsubtle metaphor I've ever written.

‘Comments are welcome—but no crit on this post please.’ This post has been tightened up and re-edited since the first draft which some of you may have read. I will post all I have written to date. I was tempted to post the whole thing in one go but realise it would be too long for comfortable monitor reading---so I will post it in readable parts.
