This is a story inspired by I-man's recent story, The Gothman Book. With his permission, I have lifted some of the bits from his plot, and rendered in the old 'Victorian' style I seem to be fond of. It is now edited into one part - not that much shorter, I'm afraid

This is a talking head written in format for TV as a monologue to camera. With apologies to Alan Bennett ~~~~~~~~~ Yas is a late middle aged woman with two daughters she adores, by her first marriage. Is slightly bored by her second marriage and her safe little life. ~~~~~~~~~~~~

This is the first chapter of a novel I'm working on. I'd be interested to hear whether it grabs or not .. do the characters come out strongly enough? does it make you want to read on? Is it too much dialogue now? (I changed it in response to some feedback) Basic story is a relationship between a precocious teenage girl and her teacher ..

Much of the the opening dialogue is a faithful recreation of a conversation I had with a French girl, but in a different setting to the one described here. That was the starting point for the story.

I hear some kinda racket off in the distance. It takes me awhile to figure out it's the blower on the nightstand ringin'. As I'm pickin' up the receiver, I look over to the lovely sight a Carlie, snoozin' away, naked as a newborn. "This better be important!" I grouse into the mouthpiece. * * *

Oedian Tales is a collection of short stories set in the world of Oedi, the science fantasy world for my science fantasy book. Each tale is designed to give a snapshot of events and ways of life taking place in the world but not necessarily connected with the main story. This particular tale has a bit of a strange tale in itself. It was originally part of the main book. I'm not sure what I was thinking when I wrote it because it never fitted and was removed when I came across it during editing. However, I felt it was a shame to loose it (unlike other bits) and it seems to fit as an Oedian Tale.

Been thinking about a short story I wrote some time ago called Haze. This is a 'flash' follow on.

Some things are always the same, toothaches, heartburn and yes, heartache too, they hurt the old as much as the young, and with so little strength left to fight, they can hurt even more. 

Put this in 'Experimental' as it was the only category I could see it fitting into, although I never thought of it as experimental before! Just a little something, a piece that I actually quite like, but, as ever, please do your worst (or best, depending on your point of view.) Romany.

This is perhaps more a flash of fiction than flash fiction - it's on the cutting room floor (at the moment) from the novel I'm working on as I've decided to omit the first person narrative for this character and show Evelyn through the main character's narrative instead. I was fond of her though. :o)
