Fiction: The Nightmare - by Griffonner (1206 words) - Date online (05-11-2004)
Drama

Yes, I've changed the title...

After reading this, you may remember an event in recent times - the work of terrorists - and a media story about a particular couple... I sometimes wonder about myself..! Out of the horror of this event, as with others, my mind is drawn to write what is basically a fiction about the characters, almost intuitively. Perhaps it is the way my mind deals with the trauma and unease that I feel about the way the world is going?

 Fiction: Killer 3 -- Nightmare - by ferryman (1412 words) - Date online (05-11-2004)
Horror

Er, can you bear with me a bit, please ... ? Cos something weird's goin on here.
The people who commented on the two previous 'Killer' stories thought there should be more and, annoyingly, so did I. And what follows is the result. But ... I reread the two Killer stories I'd submitted and I also reread The Body and somehow, they seemed to go together. When I started writing this one, characters from The Body popped up and popped in and I had the very strange feeling that, if a novel finally happens, it's going to be set in the very late sixties on a seaside pier fair and in a small town. Like I said, something weird is happening here.
Anyway, I'm posting this and if anybody could tell me whether it goes with the other three stories, I'd be grateful (I suppose I should call The Body 'Killer 1' and this one 'Killer 4'). I'd hate to charge into a novel about a maniac who kills young women cos he's had a really good 'wet-shave' and a teenager who feels like he's standing in the face of a dark wind that keeps giving him nightmares, only to find out that it won't work ...
OKay, thanks for reading this. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE read the story, too.

Fiction: Alexis Book 1 - Fugitive - by aeriel *NEW AUTHOR* Welcome this new UKA author (6899 words) - Date online (25-10-2004)
Sci-fi

Out of the still calm at the end of a normal space day came an attack by marauders. Alexis was sent away to safety, but there was nothing safe about that sector of space. The marauders were looking for him. The people who helped him on his way to find his parents told him a little about the Imperial Legion and their power of Thoughts, but what exactly was his connection with the Emperor and why were the marauders so desperate to find him? It was all very confusing, even more confusing when you had spent all your life in a small space lab and were totally unused to living anywhere else.

This piece is a short re-working of a character found in Albert Camus' The Outsider, Raymond Santčs. Raymond begins the chain of events that leads to Meursault killing the Arab on the beach. I have quoted Camus' text twice, but I'm sure he wouldn't have minded. He was a goalkeeper afterall and even the best goalies let one in occasionally.

The ongoing adventures of the USS Hoohoo Diddey, in which our intrepid crew explore space, by going around the universe to the left.

This story is made up of a series of stories which will form a completely insane series of parodies almost, though not quite as good, as if you huffed gasoline while reading a Douglas Adams book. It's meant to be absurd.

It's a joint effort, from Kazekage and Gee, so postings will alternate between these two writers.

No sandwiches were harmed in the making of this story.
