Fiction: FORCE ZERO-OPERATION SAVIOUR. - by eddiesolo (1496 words) - Date online (28-11-2003)
Novel Excerpts

Thought I would have a go at doing a hero saving the world from evil type thing, this is the prologue.
The story is set as you can probably figure out during the conflict with Iraq. I have had people having a go at me saying its all 'pro-American'. Well without giving too much away its not, the yanks do save the day but they are also the instigators of the trouble.

Fiction: Lost and Found - by Dorney-Printing (1463 words) - Date online (28-11-2003)
Philosophy

An extremely thought inspiring essay through which we learn that our preconceived ideas on life can be changed by one simple and brief occurrence.

I have found great spiritual insight and learning through these well-researched and thought provoking articles - this includes the three preceding articles. They navigate the breadth of human experience as one travels life’s path.

Fiction: The Mask of Sol - by CoolAxeMan *NEW AUTHOR* Welcome this new UKA author (1752 words) - Date online (24-11-2003)
Sci-fi

My first post here (in fact my first post anywhere!) - its an idea I have been harbouring for a long time now, but have never bothered to get down on paper let alone make it public. Glad to have any feedback - good or bad. But I do hope there's enough here for you to enjoy.

It concerns the basic idea that the reason we have not heard from other intelligent life, lies closer to home than we might expect. Very simple research accompanied the writing of this - if I re-write it will be improved with investment in the time allocated to this - however the basic scientific principles are reasonably sound.

Fiction: Deny Tomorrow - Rise of The Future Internet - by harv (1430 words) - Date online (07-11-2003)
Drama

I'm writing quite a few "Chapter One's" at the moment...not sure they'll ever get finished!

This is the fictional account of a scientist conducting an innovative experiment into revolutionary internet technology - he has developed a web-based system in which the hyperlinks jump to web-pages not just on physically separate computers but also to those separated in time (specifically in the future). During the experiment the contents of a future website inform him that he will be killed in a freak accident some time in the day after the experiment. His mark on the scientific world is made, but will he be a martyr to his technological breakthrough? Is it inevitable that the tragic events will come to pass? Is there anything he can do to stay alive? What will he do?

(If I don't finish it, we'll never know!)

This is first draft material only, btw.

Just Plain Daft.

I recently gave up writing for Lent, or until I started to have some decent ideas again. My Coarse Boating series had gone totally stale and was driving me mad- I was trying to arrange the episodes into a book length piece that I could submit for submission for publication and the harder I tried the worse it got. It ended up with me delelting a lot of the material I was not happy with, until even that stopped working properly for me. To cheer myself up I dug out an old piece.
